Rosemary Citrus Goat Milk Lard Soap - Goat in Meadow Essential Oil Soap
This super-simple 2-oil bar soap has pure essential oils of Rosemary with Orange, Lime & Grapefruit, blended here by hand, and of course our goat milk in it as well, along with local, pastured lard that I render here by hand and a touch of coconut oil. Full ingredients are simply lard, coconut oil, goat milk, lye, and those 4 essential oils.
This is my new favorite scent - bright, juicy sweet citrus and spicy pungent rosemary blend so beautifully! I also use this as an option in my shampoo bar and matching conditioner bar, if you fall in love with the scent as much as I have! Choose from:
Large 4-5+ oz rectangular bar with a goat kid frolicking in a meadow, in a windowed kraft box
Full-size 4-5 oz square bar, wrapped in hand-cut brown paper
I also make this in a 2 oz square bar with a dragonfly on it, a great size for trying out the fragrance, travel, or gifting, and I offer optional hand-painted color on the dragonfly. This is a colored mica powder that I paint on the surface so it will wash off immediately, but it adds a gorgeous pop of color that is a little extra something for that special gift. I personally think of this scent as bright and vibrant, so I will use a vivid pink, although I have several colors so just message me if you'd like a different shade. This bar is packaged in a hand-folded brown paper origami box with a matching lid.
Goat milk is renowned for the luxurious qualities it gives soap, particularly gentle exfoliating and excellent moisturizing. I hand-milk my goats Irena, Bunny and Hazel for all my goat milk soaps - f you have used goat milk soap before, or any good handmade soap, you know that it is a completely different creature than commercial soap, which can be so drying!
When soap is made by hand, the chemical reaction of oils with a lye solution forms the substances soap and glycerin. A typical bar of handmade soap is roughly 1/3 glycerin! This is a humectant, meaning it pulls water from the air - when on your skin, it literally moisturizes your skin by attracting water to it. In commercial soaps, the glycerin is distilled and removed, and later sold back to you in a lotion, but in the "real thing", it is all one package. I used to use lotions and moisturizers a lot, especially in the winter, but I virtually never use them anymore, other than some of my grass-fed tallow balm or salve on my hands occasionally.
